Home of the SJAC Marathoners

Frank, in front of the Scranton court house. My running club is the South Jersey Athletic Club.  Here in the USA, any physical sport is considered athletic, but for some reason, the originators of our club decided to go with the British definition of athletics meaning track and field events and running races.  We are over 200 strong, and have a spectrum of runners some of whom are very fast, some not so fast, but all enjoy the sport.  Because of this club I was lured into running my first marathon in 2008.  Since then I’ve run one or two a year.  Training for a marathon is a major event in itself.  It usually takes sixteen weeks, although there are other plans.  It often means training along with others in my club training for the same race.  We started this blog in May, 2012, when we were training for the Steamtown Marathon in Scranton, Pennsylvania.  It has become my personal account of running, training, traveling, cooking, nutrition, and making beer, all of which, truly, are part of marathon running.
